10,000 Year WARNING

The United States has an problem: over the past sixty years it has amassed more than 200 million pounds of radioactive nuclear waste. This waste is extremely dangerous and cannot be disposed of without doing irreparable damage to the environment.

The US Department of Energy has decided to build a secure underground bunker to house this waste until it is no longer radioactive. Unfortunately, this will take 10,000 years! This has brought up an extremely interesting question: How can you design a warning system that will last and make sense to people 10,000 years from now?
